Mission Statement for The Spirit Dancer Canoe Youth Project

The Spirit Dancer Canoe Youth Project is an opportunity for youth to interact with the people of a host culture by sharing in the challenge of paddling a large North American Native style canoe on the host culture’s waters. Participants will learn life skills including healthy recreation boat handling, and safety, teamwork and communication. They will be immersed in cross-cultural history, values, traditions, customs, and friendships through sharing their cultural heritage while participating in the host culture.

The Spirit Dancer Canoe Cultural Project provides an opportunity for people of any age, from any other culture to interact intimately with the unique history, customs, and hospitality of the citizens of a host culture by sharing in the endeavour of paddling a large North American Native style canoe on the host culture’s waters. Participating in the common goal of safely moving a craft of such universal nature through challenging conditions immediately inspires creative conversations, generosity and passion.
